Peter Hodgkinson Centre Psychiatric Unit, County Hospital, Lincoln

This service is available to staff, patients and relatives only.

Gateway System

Personal callers to the bureau can access online information, view and collect leaflets, self-help materials and other information, or contact an appropriate telephone helpline.

If the problem cannot be resolved in this way, a skilled adviser will carry out a short 15 minute gateway assessment interview and agree the next step that needs to be taken.

This might include:

• being provided with information, self-help materials or details of other organisations
• key elements of the information explained and/or highlighted
• assistance in the use of online services
• being given details of (or in particular circumstances formally referred to) other sources of advice and information.

If the problem cannot be resolved in this way, an appointment will be made with another adviser who will provide detailed advice, intervene as necessary or make a referral to a specialist CAB service or another organisation.

If the problem cannot be resolved in this way an adviser will act on your behalf to achieve an agreed outcome.

Migrant Workers Helpline

Telephone information and advice available Monday - Thursday in Polish and Friday in Latvian from 9.30am - 1.00pm.

On the Internet

Adviceguide is an information service available across the internet

Advice is sorted into four consumer topics - Money, Family, Daily Life and Your Rights and there are separate sections for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Make this a first port of call for topics as diverse as guidelines on second-hand car dealers (obtain an independent report to validate faults with a car) and immigration procedures if your foreign spouse wants to remain in the UK.

Accessibility

The bureau is fully accessible to all:

• One designated parking space for disabled people is available.
• Toilets are fully accessible for wheelchair users and others with disabilities.
• We have an induction loop system and access to signers for the deaf.
• The bureau is accessible to users of Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs.
• Translation services can be arranged.

A computer in the waiting room is provided to search our internet advice resources.
